Marcus Denard Johnson has worked as a director, actor, theatre-maker, and arts educator in NYC for 13 years. Directing credits include The African Company Presents: Richard III (TITAN Theater), truth: The Testimony of Sojourner Truth (Hope Summer Rep), The Wiz (Hope Summer Rep). New York Acting Credits: Pipeline (Mile Square Theatre) A Christmas Carol (TITAN Theater), Othello (Hudson Warehouse), Henry V (Gallery Players), Love's Labor’s Lost (Hip to Hip), The Exonerated (The Secret Theatre), Regional Acting Credits: The Meeting (Ocean State Theatre), To Kill a Mockingbird (Asolo Rep), The Wiz (True Colors). Marcus holds an MFA from the FSU/Asolo Conservatory, a B.A. in Theater from Morehouse College, and is currently an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Columbus State University.

ABOUT THE PLAY
Genesis takes place in the summer of 1919 in Chicago where Walter and Lena not only have to deal with the brutality of the race riots but also the uncertainty of their marriage after a terrible tragedy.
